Trust and confidentiality
A doctor facing a regulator, the police or an employer needs to know who will see what they tell us. This page sets out how we keep your information confidential, how we check for conflicts, and what we hold and do not hold.

1. The company and its status
Eloquia Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 12532468, with its registered office at Arden Hall, Brooklands Road, Sale M33 3SJ. Its director is Saqib Khan, a former solicitor who qualified 19 years ago, founded and ran a law firm for 14 years, and sat as a fee paid judge of the County Court for more than four years.
Eloquia is not a law firm and is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Representation before the GMC and the MPTS is not a reserved legal activity. Where a matter needs a regulated firm, such as a High Court appeal or criminal proceedings, we work with a regulated law firm and a criminal defence partner firm, and we tell you before either is involved.
2. Confidentiality
Everything you tell us about your matter is confidential. Our terms of engagement record that duty, and it continues after the matter ends. We do not confirm to anyone, including your employer, your colleagues or the regulator, that we act for you unless you agree or the proceedings require it.
We do not promise that legal professional privilege attaches to every communication with Eloquia. Whether it does depends on the circumstances, and where privilege matters to your case, as it does in a police investigation, we route the advice through the regulated firm or the criminal defence partner so that the protection is not left in doubt.
3. Conflicts of interest
Before we act for anyone we check every person and organisation named in the matter against our records. We will not act for a doctor and for the employer, trust or complainant on the other side of the same matter. We decline an appointment as investigator, chair or mediator where we have acted for or against anyone involved, and we will not later act for a party in a matter we have investigated, chaired or mediated. If a conflict arises during a matter, we tell you at once and explain what it means for you.
4. Who sees what
| Who | What they see |
|---|---|
| Saqib Khan | The whole file, as the person who runs your case |
| Counsel and expert witnesses | The papers they need for their part of the work, once you have agreed to their instruction |
| The regulated firm or criminal defence partner | The parts of the file their work needs, once you have agreed to their involvement |
| The regulator, tribunal, coroner or court | What is filed or served in the proceedings, and nothing more |
| Your employer, defence organisation or insurer | Nothing, unless you instruct us to share it |
We ask you which email address and telephone number to use. Many doctors prefer us not to write to an NHS or practice address, and we follow your choice.
5. Keeping information secure
We hold matter files electronically on password protected, encrypted devices and accounts that require two step sign in. We send documents by secure link or password protected file where their content calls for it, and we keep paper to a minimum and shred it when it is no longer needed. Our use of AI tools is governed by our responsible AI policy, under which no client information goes into a tool that trains on what it is given.
6. What we do not hold
Eloquia does not hold Cyber Essentials or any other information security certification at present. We would rather state that plainly than let a logo suggest otherwise. If your organisation needs further assurance before sharing information with us, ask, and we will answer your questions in writing.
7. Related documents
Our privacy notice covers the legal basis for holding your information and your rights over it. Our complaints procedure explains what to do if something goes wrong. All our policies are listed on the policies page.
