Cookies
Cookie policy
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. On your first visit a banner asks you to choose between Accept all and Essential only, and the one thing the site stores on your device is the record of that choice. This page explains what the banner does and what each category covers.

1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website places on your device so that it can recognise the device on a later visit. Similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels, do the same job in other ways. The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations require a website to ask for your consent before it stores or reads anything on your device, unless that storage is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for.
2. The cookie banner
On your first visit a banner at the foot of the page offers two buttons, Accept all and Essential only. Whichever you choose, the site saves your answer in your browser's local storage under the name eloquia-consent, together with the date you gave it. The record holds no personal information, stays on your device and is never sent to us.
The banner then stays away for a year. After that, or sooner if you clear your browser storage, it appears again and asks you to choose afresh.
3. The categories
The table sets out each category the banner covers and what the site uses in it today.
| Category | What the site uses | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | The consent record, eloquia-consent in local storage, kept for one year | Not needed, because the site must remember your choice |
| Analytics and performance | Not currently used | Would run only after Accept all, and nothing runs today whichever button you press |
| Functional | None | Not applicable |
| Marketing and advertising | None | Not applicable |
Today Accept all and Essential only have the same effect, because the site has nothing optional to switch on. We keep the analytics category in the banner so that, if we add measurement in future, it runs only for visitors who have accepted it. We will update this policy before anything of that kind goes live.
4. What your browser still requests
When a page loads, your browser fetches our typefaces from Fontshare and from Google Fonts. Those servers receive your IP address and the details your browser sends with any request, as every web server does. They set no cookies through our pages. Our host, Netlify, receives the same technical details when it serves each page, and it receives anything you send through the contact form. Our privacy notice covers how that information is handled.
5. Cookie settings
The Cookie settings link in the footer of every page opens the banner again, so you can change your choice at any time. A new choice replaces the old record and starts a fresh year. Your browser settings also let you clear local storage and block cookies from any site, and doing so will not affect how this site works.
