Modern slavery
Modern slavery statement
Our voluntary statement on keeping slavery and human trafficking out of our business and the people we buy from.

1. A voluntary statement
Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 sets a threshold of an annual turnover of £36 million or more. A commercial organisation at or above it must publish a slavery and human trafficking statement. Eloquia is far below that threshold, so the law does not require it to publish one. We publish this statement voluntarily, because the organisations and professionals we work with are entitled to know where we stand.
2. Our business
Eloquia Ltd is a legal consultancy led by its director, Saqib Khan. It defends doctors and other healthcare professionals and acts for employers as investigator, chair and mediator. It has no employees other than its director. Instead, it works with counsel, expert witnesses and partner firms engaged for individual matters.
3. Our supply chain
What we buy is small in scale and almost entirely professional or digital. It covers barristers and expert witnesses, and the regulated law firm and the criminal defence partner firm we work with. It also covers software and website hosting, telephone and broadband, travel to meetings and hearings, and office supplies. The risk of modern slavery in that chain is low. The highest risk lies in goods with long overseas supply chains, such as computer hardware and stationery.
4. What we do
- We pay everyone who works with us on agreed written terms and on time.
- For hardware and supplies, we use established suppliers that publish their own modern slavery statements where the law requires them to.
- We keep devices in use for as long as they work, which reduces how much hardware we buy.
- If we find evidence of slavery, servitude, forced labour or trafficking in a supplier's business, we will stop working with that supplier.
5. Concerns arising in our work
When we investigate or chair a process for an employer, we may come across signs of exploitation. One example is the recruitment or treatment of overseas staff. If we do, we raise it with the appointing organisation. Where a person is at risk, we also report it to the police or to the Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline.
6. Reporting a concern
If you have a concern about modern slavery connected with Eloquia, contact Saqib Khan. You can email hello@eloquia.co.uk, telephone 07356 071 193, or post to Eloquia Ltd, Arden Hall, Brooklands Road, Sale M33 3SJ. We treat every report in confidence.
7. Approval
Saqib Khan approved this statement as director of Eloquia Ltd on 23 October 2026. We review it every year.
